@theSpectre Tbh, half the stuff coming to Xbox these days is 10 year old PlayStation games — I remember them releasing Ni No Kuni 1 and 2 just last year. I think this is probably a result of Phil Spencer's concerted effort to get pretty much every game ever on an Xbox. Which is a good thing, of course.
@BeerIsAwesome It's a good thing that Final Fantasy XIV is coming to Xbox, which should have happened 10 years ago. I'm all for games coming to Xbox. Hell I'd like to see Spider-Man there, if Xbox weren't becoming so greedy. That said, maybe a trade can be done. Spider-Man for Elder Scrolls VI maybe.
@theSpectre Going by what some of the PureXbox guys say, when Elder Scrolls Online came out, they had to change their monetisation model because Microsoft refused to allow an MMO with a free-to-play option at the time. Sounds like something similar happened here. Though that's more a speculation on my part rather than factual.
@BeerIsAwesome I think there were numerous factors in Square Enix refusing to put FF14 on Xbox. 1 big one was MS insistence on users paying for Xbox Live (in 2013) in addition to the monthly subscription for the game. MS also demanded that the in-game store use the MS Store instead of Mog Station. Those were 2 issues. There was also a problem with cross-play integration (ironic considering MS and Sony's more recent positions on it). Ultimately, it's a great thing that FF14 is finally coming to Xbox. More players will get to experience this great game and great community.
@theSpectre Sounds plausible. Microsoft have been more «open» recently in regards to things like third party stores, but one feels that this may be something related to Epic vs Apple and Google. I don't know the details of that case, so
