Microsoft has officially announced its latest Xbox controller colour.
Confirming a previous leak, the Astral Purple wireless controller is available to pre-order now for $64.99 / £54.99 ahead of its launch on September 19.
The controller can connect to Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles, PC, mobile phones and tablets via Bluetooth and Xbox Wireless.
Microsoft has already released at least seven new Xbox controller designs in 2023.
In February it revealed and released the blue-purple Stellar Shift controller, followed by theVelocity Green controller in March.
March also saw the release of red and blue editions of the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller.
In May it released a Sunkissed Vibes controller with a peach and pastel blue theme, then in June it released the limited edition Starfield controller.
And last month in launched the Stormcloud Vapor Xbox Series X/S controller.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently said that Microsoft is committed to releasing the same games for both Xbox Series X and S consoles, and that he doesn’t see a future where the entry-level system has to miss out on some titles due to technical limitations.
He also said the price of current-gen consoles won’t come down over time in the same way as other systems have in past generations, and that he thinks a mid-gen refresh would create “a ton of complexity for creators and players”.
Starfield was released last week and appears to have broken Microsoft‘s record for the biggest launch day for an Xbox Game Studios title.
Over six million people played the game by the end of its first official day of release, including more than one million concurrent players, according to the platform holder.
