A music and art collabration between Pokemon and Hatsune Miku has started
A new collaboration between Pokemon and popular vocaloid music ‘star’ Hatsune Miku has started.
The collaboration, which has been named Project Voltage, will see the release of 18 illustrations and 18 new music tracks based on the pairing.
The general theme of the project is “what if Hatsune Miku was an X-type Pokémon trainer”, with each illustration and track focusing on a different type of Pokémon.
The 18 illustrations will be released first, and will be posted on the official Project Voltage Twitter account one per day, every weekday, until September 28.
The first has already been published, and shows Hatsune Miku as a Psychic-type Pokémon trainer, accompanied by the Pokémon Meloetta.
Once the illustrations have been posted, the project will move onto the music tracks, with the first due to be released on September 29 at 7pm Japan time (3am PT / 6am ET / 11am BST).

There will be 18 tracks in total, each created by a different vocaloid music producer. They will be released “over the next few months” and will be posted on each artist’s own music channel, and shared by the Project Voltage account.
According to the project’s website, each track will share the common theme of ‘Pokémon feat Hatsune Miku’, and each track will sample the music and sound effects from past Pokémon games.
However, it states that “from that point onwards, each vocalist is free to come up with his or her own ideas for the production”.
