Despite having said a couple of times now that Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone is ready to start concentrating on Haunted Chocolatier, he's still working away at improving his baby Stardew Valley. Lots of fixes and new content have been added in the last few months, and Barone has now announced that patch 1.6.4 is now out for PC.
Like most other patches, this one adds a bunch of new content, as well as balance changes, translation improvements, and various quality of life additions. We'll go through the newly added content first, and Barone has concentrated a lot of his efforts on the mines this time around. A bunch of new mine layouts have been added after you reach the bottom of the mines, as well as a bunch of volcano mines layouts which can be found after unlocking the shortcut between the caldera and the volcano entrance.
On top of that, patch 1.6.4 has added fish frenzies, as well as a special cutscene that will play once you've helped any of your neighbors grow their family to max. You'll also be able to make your fish tanks fancier by placing more non-fish items in them, and the Raccoon Shop will now include a trade for mystery boxes and golden mystery boxes.
Next up, we'll go through the quality of life changes, which should fix some of the more irritating aspects of the game at the moment. For example, flopping fish no longer fall back into the ponds when you've reeled them in, and napalm rings now no longer damage your property on the farm and will only damage monsters when they explode.
Various fixes have also been introduced, including a horrible bug that would make your beloved pets completely disappear. A few more of the bigger fixes include fishing splash zones and ore pan points now properly disappear overnight, the prize ticket machine eats your ticket when you receive your item rather than when you insert your ticket, and you'll be able to check whether the level 100 mines stardrop has been acquired.
