Star Wars Outlaws’ promise of a vast map where players are able to seamless travel from open world planets and moons into outer space has been one of its more enticing aspects, but there’s still plenty yet that we don’t know about when it comes to what kind of content and gameplay opportunities the game’s space areas will bring. Developer Massive Entertainment has said that space in Star Wars Outlaws will be “full of things to do”– but what things exactly?
Speaking with Game Informer, art and world director Benedikt Podlesnigg divulged a few more tidbits on that front, revealing that while exploring space aboard the Trailblazer, protagonist Kay Vess’ ship, players will also be able to find and land on space stations and find additional things to do, from trading with vendors to even finding new side quests.
Players will at times also have the opportunity respond to emergency distress signals from other ships that are caught in combat and are looking for aid, while Podlesnigg mentioned a specific instance during one of his recent playthroughs where he traveled to a space station to deliver a special item to an NPC, after gaining intel about the same while exploring the moon of Toshara.
Creative director Julian Gerighty has also described spaceflight in Star Wars Outlaws as “accessible, fun, and action-packed”, saying that there’s “always something to do”, and that space traversal and combat controls are “extremely easy to get into.” Read more on that through here.
Star Wars Outlaws launches August 30 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
