The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered appears to have broken street date, as at least one fan is playing early. The player, who is sharing early footage on Reddit, says they've been able to try out the new game modes ahead of the remaster's official launch.
While the leaks haven't been acknowledged by Naughty Dog or Sony, the fan in question has shared numerous videos of themself playing the game. It's not clear how they managed to access the game ahead of its January 19 release date, but they claim to have purchased it, implying at least one outlet is selling the game far earlier than intended.
The leak, as noted by Eurogamer, might be a little hard to avoid online. Early footage is being shared in the PlayStation subreddit, and it seems that the user behind the leak has been playing for at least the past couple of days. While it's hard to spoil the story for The Last of Us Part 2, you might want to steer clear of the subreddit if you want to go into this remaster without knowing much about all of its new features, except for what's been officially unveiled.
As for the new additions that we know about, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is going to include Lost Levels - areas that were cut from the original release. They won't be included in the main story, but players will be able to access them otherwise. On top of that, there will be a roguelike mode. On a smaller note, a new skin also finally confirms that Ellie's surname is indeed Williams, which is neat.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is current-gen exclusive, so you won't be able to upgrade if you're still playing on PS4.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is set to launch on January 19, so this Friday. It comes almost four years after the initial release of The Last of Us Part 2, and more than a year since the latest remaster of the first game in the series. The latter was ported to PC last year but was full of performance issues and graphical errors. There is no release date for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
