Helldivers 2 players are finding out about the series' high difficulty barrier the hard way, especially if they're trying to get through the game's missions on their own.
Just like the original game, Helldivers 2 can be a shockingly challenging at times. On your quest to end the Galactic War, your nameless Helldivers will be killed by bugs, robots, friendly fire, orbital drops, and a whole lot more. Things are hard enough when you're playing with friends or random Helldivers, but it's even worse when you're trying to get through on your own.
While Helldivers 2's missions are clearly meant to be taken on with other players who can help you out by using Stratagems and generally shooting everything in sight, the game does offer solo players the chance to take on every mission on their own. You might not want to do that, though, as Helldivers 2 is tough enough with friends, let alone when you're playing solo.
Although most Helldivers 2 players seem to have quickly realised that playing with friends or randomers is the way to go, those who have been trying to get through the game on their own are reporting that it's a surprisingly tough time. Over on the game's subreddit, there are a ton of threads asking other fans how they're finding playing on their own, and the general consensus is that it's an incredibly rough time.
One such thread comes from Redditor RudeInteraction8056, who says that they're having a hard time getting through missions on their own, even when playing on the easiest difficulty. There are a lot of threads on the subreddit that agree with that sentiment, with a lot of players having a real tough time getting through the game without other players around. Hell, even with friends it seems a lot of people are struggling but, as pointed out in this Steam thread, it's playing alone that's going to give you the toughest time.
