On Twitter, gaming industry veteran and analyst Mat Piscatella has noted that Helldivers 2 sales are increasing over time. Exhibiting what he refers to as an «inverse decay curve,» the title is seeing sales rise week after week, an accomplishment that is incredibly rare in the industry. Last week, Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt confirmed that Helldivers 2 sales are still going strong, but fans are now getting a better idea of just how strong.
As Piscatella explains, new games generally see their biggest sales right after launch and then experience a decline over time. This makes intuitive sense, as excited players will usually rush to buy a new release, generating the biggest spike in sales. After that, sales begin to drop. Helldivers 2, however, seems to be growing in popularity, drawing in large numbers of gamers who may not have been interested at launch but are now picking it up after hearing about it from others.
