Developer Prophecy Games has revealed that its revival of team-based multiplayer shooter, Tribes 3: Rivals, will be coming to PC as an early access title on March 12. In the mean time, the game is currently available as a playtest that players can request access for.
In a lengthy FAQ, the studio has revealed quite a few details about Tribes 3: Rivals. For instance, the game will launch with 7 maps: Katabatic, Wavemist, DryDock, Dangerous Crossing, Torment, Hollow, and Raindance. The maps will all feature a variety of different types of terrain and biomes, ranging from the snows of Katabatic to the lush jungle in Hollow.
Tribes 3: Rivals will also allow players to set up their loadouts with a variety of different weapons, including iconic weapons from the Tribes franchise like the Spinfusors in light, medium and heavy formats, as well as other weapons like Bolt Launchers, and Chain Guns. Players will be able to play as Light, Medium or Heavy classes, which in turn will affect the level of movement, momentum and speed they will be able to achieve.
The game will also feature a ranked mode for its core Capture the Flag game mode, pitting players in 7-on-7 battles. The systems are stated to be similar to other multiplayer shooters like Valorant and Apex Legends. The studio has also revealed that microtransactions in Tribes 3: Rivals will be for cosmetic content only.
