To no one's surprise, work is already underway on the next Like a Dragon game, with developer RGG Studio announcing that it's in the process of hosting character auditions. The team goes on to confirm that the next title is not Kiwami 3 — a remake of Yakuza 3, which originally released for the PS3 all the way back in 2009.
However, Kiwami 3 is happening at some point, according to series director Masayoshi Yokoyama. «I’m just going to say, I think we’ll do a Kiwami 3 at some point. I think we’ll definitely do it sooner or later,» he commented, during RGG Studio's most recent video.
Yakuza 3 was a great game back in the day — and it likely introduced a lot of people to the franchise — but the property has come a long way since, and much of it feels incredibly old and clunky by today's standards. We're well up for a full, Kiwami 2-style remake.

Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, he's played 'em all — a little too much, some might say.
Like A Dragon Kenzan maybe?? Either way I’m so hyped!
