Microsoft has revealed the time and date for its upcoming in June. As with last year, Xbox will follow the show with a Direct presentation focusing on a specific title. However, the company is being secretive about which game it will be.
The main show starts at 10 am Pacific / 1 pm Eastern on Sunday, June 9, according to the official Xbox Wire blog. It will be the first showcase to feature games from Activision Blizzard, which Microsoft acquired last year. The post also said that the fans will hear from Bethesda and Xbox’s third-party partners. The Direct starts immediately after the main show and will feature a deep dive into an upcoming game.
Unlike last year’s Starfield Direct, Xbox hasn’t announced the game ahead of time. However, the company has offered a few clues. The post says it is “the next installment of a beloved franchise.” There is also an image of a wolf’s head stenciled over the picture of the US Capitol building on the back of a $50 bill.
A few people online believe the mystery Xbox game is the next Call of Duty: Black Ops. Developed by Treyarch, the game is rumored to take place during the 1991 Gulf War. However, Treyarch hasn’t revealed much about the upcoming game. Fans don’t even have an official title.
The fact that the logo is on a $50 bill also feels significant and may hint at some elements of the game’s story. Private military companies have been antagonists in past Call of Duty games, so that could be what it’s pointing to. However, this is veering into speculation, and the new game might not even be Call of Duty-related. Fans may need to wait until the Xbox showcase in June to find out.
