A teaser trailer has showcased the two new 6v6 maps arriving on May 1 with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Season 3 Reloaded update. The maps, called Checkpoint and Grime, will be joined by other new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 features.
The Season 3 Reloaded update is set to bring a slew of content to both MW3 and Warzone. MW3 will receive two modes called Minefield and Escort, the Arcade playlist, and new items like the Enhanced Vision Goggles field upgrade and EMD Mine tactical equipment. At the same time, Warzone will get the Heavy Armor public event, Loaded Resurgence playlist, and new features for Rebirth Island like Weapon Trade Stations and the Specialist perk package. While these are promising upgrades, the most anticipated part of Call of Duty's major updates is often the new multiplayer maps, and fans just got a preview of them.
Call of Duty's official YouTube account posted a short, 50-second teaser that flies through the new Checkpoint and Grime maps. Warzone fans will likely recognize Checkpoint, since it is based on Rebirth Island's Stronghold POI and seems to be mostly identical to its Warzone iteration other than blocking off certain areas. Grime, however, is a brand-new map that takes place at an abandoned, graffiti-filled dock in London and features a slightly darker and rainier aesthetic than sunny Checkpoint. Developers have described both maps as medium-sized, and the teaser showcases a variety of buildings and outdoor spaces where plenty of gunfights will likely take place. Also, Grime seems to include trains that speed by the map intermittently, although they don't appear to affect gameplay besides creating a loud sound.
The release times for Season 3 Reloaded put its launch at 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 1. Warzone Mobile fans won't be left out either on May 1, as the major update will add the Golden Week event inspired by Japanese folklore to the mobile game, followed by a mid-season update that will add the limited-time High Voltage
