Helldivers 2 Leak Reveals Best Look At Illuminate Yet
thegamer.comLast month, we got our first look at the Illuminate in Helldivers 2 thanks to prominent leaker and dataminer IronS1ghts. The image was of a disembodied head with a glowing blue gem lodged in the front, but now we have much better pictures of one of their full models.

In the Reddit post embedded below, we see their ceremonial armour and weaponry. In the original game, they only wore robes, so it looks like they're taking things even more seriously in the Second Galactic War. Given that they're more technologically advanced than Super Earth, that's pretty worrying.
"This is the first tier unit of the Illuminate 'Guy'. The staff is primarily used alongside the axe by Guy," IronS1ghts explained. "The Illuminate staff is referred to as a 'LightSpear'. It can be used in melee and ranged combat, firing a beam of light if needed. The axe is a two-handed heavy weapon."
Last month, a broadcast leaked of a Helldiver screaming about tentacles as they died, referring to the Illuminate. Since then, dataminers have uncovered a slew of in-game models varying from the Squi'ith themselves to their many weapons, such as the Summoner's Whip and Gauntlet.
These discoveries have only increased over the past couple of weeks, so it looks like developer Arrowhead is preparing to introduce this highly advanced aquatic species sometime soon.
Given that we're now in the Second Galactic War--with community manager Katherine 'Baskinator' Baskin claiming that "all conflict leading up to this was merely an elaborate special operation"--it only makes sense that the Illuminate would be introduced to ramp up the difficulty.
They're highly advanced, with cloaking technology and blue laser weaponry. In the first game, they could turn invisible on the battlefield and use energy shields to deflect our weapons, so they'll prove even more challenging than even the Automatons.
