Starfield director Todd Howard finally shares some new details regarding the game's upcoming Shattered Space story expansion, and though it looks like it's still quite a while away from release, players can also expect to see a few significant updates in the meantime. While Starfield has seen plenty of noteworthy content updates since its release in September of last year, many players — particularly those who already purchased the premium edition of the game — are still waiting on the release of its DLC before they jump back into it.
When it comes to Starfield's Shattered Space expansion, players still aren't quite sure what to expect. Very little is known about the game's DLC, though fans who own Starfield's premium edition technically already own it, and will be able to access it at no additional cost once it drops. The little that is known about the Shattered Space DLC is that it will first and foremost serve as a story expansion, either appending a new chapter onto the game's main storyline or potentially investigating a totally new side story altogether.
More than half a year after Starfield's initial release, however, fans have finally gotten an expected release window for the expansion. Speaking in an interview on the Kinda Funny Gamescast, Starfield director Todd Howard revealed that the expansion is set to release in Fall 2024 — perhaps not as soon as most fans would like, though it does beg the question of what an expansion released so long after the game's initial launch might bring to the table. While Shattered Space unfortunately still seems like it's a while off in terms of release, players can, however, look forward to a variety of big features that are set to arrive in Starfield via multiple updates in the meantime.
