Roger Clark, the actor who plays Arthur Morgan in , is set to reprise his role for a new project. Rockstar's western series starts in the 1860s with, although the events of this game were interpreted more as folklore in the two titles. The games cover the end of the Wild West, with the prequel starting in 1899, and the epilogue of taking place in 1914.
As reported by , Clark will be narrating an audiobook of historian Tore Olsson’s in character as Arthur Morgan. Rockstar pulled from real historical events and incorporated real-life criminals from this time throughout its storytelling, enabling Olsson's book to cover American history through the lens of the games.
Olsson is an expert on American history and, teaching the world's first history class at the University of Tennessee after playing in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Interestingly, Olsson stated that he's not so interested in the question of accuracy, but rather in the historical "" Rockstar implemented into its storytelling to create the mood of the world and tell the realities of that time.
The choice to bring back not just Roger Clark, but to also have him reprise his role from the game is certainly an interesting one, and it will be fun for players to hear from Arthur Morgan again nearly six years after experiencing the character's story. Clark stated in another interview with that one of the reasons he was interested in narrating Olsson's audiobook was because he knew how much research went into the games by Rockstar, particularly regarding cultural historical accuracy.
It's a testament to the work done at Rockstar that not only is there a book highlighting the real-world events that play out in their games, but also an entire university course dedicated to 'stake on American history. The audiobook will be available on Audible, Apple Books and other major audiobook retailers on August 6, 2024.
