NoLand4936 suggested that instead of telling another redemption story — and going against the name — should follow Dutch's perspective this time. This would work if players could grow to like and relate to a younger Dutch before showing him as a lost leader in, and finally, as the ultimate corrupted outlaw in, and could make the events of those earlier titles more tragic to play through.
There are several other options for where the series could go. While the age of outlaws has come to an end in the events of, it could still go forward in time following characters such as John and Abigal's son Jack, who players could assume control of in that game's epilogue, especially with major events such as World War 1 looming in the near future that he would likely be impacted by or sent to fight in
