Ever since the release of Shin Megami Tensei 2 back in 1994, fusion accidents have been an annoying yet beloved part of the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series. There's nothing worse than doing all the complicated calculations to get a Persona with the exact desired ability that you want, only for a fusion accident to occur and ruin all your hard work.
Most of the time, fusion accidents result in Personas that you don't particularly need or want, hence the "accident" part of the phrase, but you do occasionally get an upgrade on the Persona that you intended to get if the stars align. If you're lucky, they can be at a much higher level than what the player is at the time of fusion, though you'll struggle to find a much more fortuitous fusion accident than what Reddit user Flamerock51 managed in Persona 3 Reload.
Flamerock51 shared a video of their miraculous fusion accident on the Persona subreddit earlier this week, in which they're attempting to fuse a Jack-O-Lantern with a Forneus to get themselves a Tam Lin. A fusion accident can result in literally any Persona, but the system is limited in previous Persona games by the level of the player character, mostly so people don't end up with endgame Personas in the opening few hours of the game. It's possible this may be a bug or Persona 3 Reload doesn't have this restriction, but it seems unlikely.
Regardless, accidentally fusing Satan when you actually intended to get yourself a Level 13 Tam Lin is a very impressive feat, and Flamerock51 should definitely go
