Gamers all around the world are celebrating Mario Day, and one creative fan of the Super Mario community commemorates the occasion by sharing some cross-stitched artwork of their own featuring some of the most iconic characters, enemies, and power-ups from the franchise. Countless fans have contributed some amazing Super Mario-themed works of art to express their enjoyment of the series this Mario Day, and Nintendo has also made a number of reveals to get fans excited about the future of the franchise as well.
Many people, whether they're gaming enthusiasts or not, are aware of the Mario brothers. The Super Mario series has been a household name for more than 40 years, with the very first Mario Bros. title released as an arcade game in 1983. Though the plumber brothers and their adventures across the Mushroom Kingdom became more mainstream a couple of years later with the release of Super Mario Bros. for the NES, Mario Day itself doesn't actually take place on the release anniversary of either of these games. Instead, the Super Mario franchise is celebrated universally on March 10 every year, due to the date resembling the plumber's name when shortened.
Though plenty of creative fans have taken to celebrating the occasion in their own ways, one fan has shared some beautiful cross-stitched designs featuring the iconic cast of characters from throughout the Super Mario series, as well as a few enemies and power-up items. A few of the designs include Mario and Luigi as well as their counterparts, Wario and Waluigi. There's also Toad, Princess Peach, Yoshi, and Bowser, along with both the regular Super Mushroom and 1-Up Mushroom power-ups. Though largely due to the embroidery style, these awesome fabric designs bring to mind some of the older sprites, with the Koopa Troopa design even resembling one of its older iterations.
Nintendo has revealed various new Super Mario products in celebration of the occasion. A new Super Mario movie has been confirmed to be in development
