A clever Halo Infinite player recently transformed their in-game avatar into a living Needler gun with a custom outfit inspired by the legendary weapon. The long-running Halo franchise is home to some of the most iconic firearms in sci-fi gaming, either as standard issue UNSC equipment that the Master Chief brings with him at the start of a mission or the more exotic Covenant weaponry he takes from enemy forces on the battlefield. Among the latter is the Needler, a handgun that fires explosive crystal shards at its target.
The Needler has been a part of Master Chief’s arsenal since the original Halo: Combat Evolved, and it has seen many different iterations in the series — all the way up to 2021’s Halo Infinite. Due to both its incredible power and unique nature, the Needler is a favorite among Halo fans, who have paid tribute to it over the years by modeling impressive custom Xbox controllers after it and comparing it to similar weapons in shooters like 2022’s High On Life. The Needler has even been commemorated as an official Nerf blaster, and a replica of the gun was included as a limited-edition bonus for Halo 5: Guardians.
Now, a Reddit user by the handle of Particle_Cannon recently took things a step further by modeling their Halo Infinite multiplayer character after the Needler. As shown in a screenshot posted to r/halo, this custom armor is covered in purple spikes, just like the ones that the Needler uses as exploding ammo. This has led to other users joking about the armor accidentally combusting when the Spartan puts it on, at least when they aren’t comparing the look to other shooter titles like Destiny 2.
Creative fan content like Particle_Cannon’s Needler-inspired armor has helped keep Halo Infinite alive through its many controversies. The ever-popular Forge mode was finally brought to Halo Infinite last November, allowing players to recreate iconic locations like Halo’s Blood Gulch, the massive Valhalla map from Halo 3, and even places from other games
