The recently released mod for Skyrim called There is No Umbra just added a rideable talking sword to the game. While this may be the most eyebrow raising feature, There is No Umbra is in fact a massive mod, promising to give players the same immersive experience as the base game, adding almost a dozen quests, several thousand lines of spoken dialogue, brand new locations, mechanics, animations, and more.
Featuring well over 5,000 professionally voiced lines of dialogue, the mod offers a “DLC-sized questline” with “many possible endings” in which “your choices really do matter.” The standout feature of the mod is, of course, the eponymous sword, Daumbra, which is the “newest incarnation of the cursed sword Umbra.” This naturally isn’t just any old sword, being fully summonable, throwable, and even rideable. Players are able to ride the sword at “high speed like a hoverboard.”

According to the modder behind There is No Umbra, FableForge, the sword “can be your follower, but she can also be your weapon, and comes with several mechanics which I think are somewhat novel such as riding on her like a hoverboard, or throwing her like a javelin (and then she fights the baddies at the spot where she lands), mind control, teleportation, telekinetically using the enemies' own weapons against them, and so on.”
There is No Umbra is not, on the other hand, all about a rideable sword. The mod offers a variety of different quests, locations, and mechanics which are sure to keep even long time players engaged. The best part is that everything in the mod is “lore friendly.”
