Battlefield 2042's update 4.2.0 is now live, and it includes a wide-ranging rework of the map Discarded, and it added some smaller changes. Those include a way to remove weapon attachments in the collections screen, a new end-of-round statistic, and better assist tracking.
Fans have been clamoring for the Discarded rework, as it aims to make the map more fun and engaging for the community. According to the blog post announcing the patch, the rework attempts to improve the infantry experience by adding new flags and paths. The map also includes several new areas strewn with cover for foot soldiers to use, including a salvage yard and a dismantled convoy.

Other changes include significant upgrades to the collections and customization menus, specifically improving the legibility of weapon and attachment swapping. The update also sets a feature called Uniform Soldier Aiming to «on,» which is apparently a tool that helps your aiming movement to become more consistent over time. On a technical level, this means that your hip-fire aim sensitivity will be the same as your aim-down-sights sensitivity, which makes for consistent mouse or stick movements. This change was foreshadowed last week in a blog post.
In other FPS news, a new single-player FPS called Immortals of Aveum will launch on July 20, and it will not include microtransactions.
