Battlefield 2042 has dropped its latest update (ver. 4.2.0) and while the game’s next all-new season is still a few weeks away, it’s a fairly substantial patch. The update offers a rework of the Discarded map, improvements to the collection, customization, and end-of-round processes, and a bunch more.
The headline change is the revamp of the Discarded map, which has had its flags remixed in order to create new paths and concentrate play on specific areas. DICE has gone so far as to create some entirely new POIs, including the Salvage Yards full of wrecked vehicles you can use for cover and more.
Another major change is that Uniform Soldier Aiming is now turned on by default. This new mechanic is for mouse-and-keyboard users specifically and makes the speed at which your aim moves more consistent regardless of your zoom level. According to DICE this is “beneficial to the process of developing good muscle memory when aiming.”
As mentioned, DICE has also made changes to collection, customization, and Lis’ mastery requirements. Here’s a rundown of those changes…
Collection & Customization Improvements
End-of-Round Improvements
Specialist Mastery Improvements
Of course, Battlefield 2042 ver. 4.2.0 also includes the usual array of bug fixes and smaller tweaks. You can check out the full, unabridged patch notes here.
