Ever since Silent Hill 2 Remake was announced, fans have been rather difficult to please. Taking one of the best horror games ever made and remaking it to modern standards was always going to be a tough job for any developers brave enough to take it on, but Bloober Team has struggled to impress with trailers and pre-release footage.
Shortly after the first trailer for the game went live, people relentlessly mocked James Sunderland's new face, as he went from a dashing heartthrob to a guy you'd bump into at the bar on a weekday afternoon. It's been around a year and a half since that trailer dropped, and it appears that Bloober has taken those criticisms to heart, giving James a facelift that has actually managed to please fans.
Sunderland's new face wasn't officially revealed by Konami or Bloober Team, rather it was found by Reddit user Trem45 on the Gaming Leaks And Rumors subreddit. They noticed that Silent Hill 2 Remake's Steam page had been very quietly updated with a new client icon, featuring Sunderland's new look which looks more in line with Sunderland in the original.
With so much negativity surrounding Silent Hill 2 Remake, it's nice that Bloober Team seems to have finally made fans happy for once. Loads of people are saying this new-look fits much better with the overall themes of the game, as the previous look was a little too goofy and expressive, and the changes just seem to have been received positively all around. You have some naysayers, but we all know what Twitter is like these days.
This new look has also convinced some people that Silent Hill 2 Remake may not actually be a disaster waiting to happen. Bloober Team recently claimed that Konami is behind the game's marketing, something which came to light after the poorly received combat trailer the publisher released, and Bloober's comments along with Sunderland's new look have inspired confidence that the finished product may be a lot better.
Hopefully, Bloober can keep the momentum
