Marvel Rivals dataminers have managed to find evidence within the closed beta test's files that suggest it'll be released on PS5 and Xbox Series in the future.
Without a doubt, one of the biggest surprises of 2024 so far is Marvel Rivals, a hero shooter from NetEase that is basically Marvel's blatant answer to Overwatch (even down to Hulk basically playing like D.va). Originally announced at the start of the year out of nowhere, Rivals is currently hosting a closed beta test for PC players that is going surprisingly well and drawing a lot of attention to the game.
Since the Marvel Rivals closed beta test began, one of the main questions that most fans have had is how they can get their hands on it, something that's been an even bigger worry for console players. In a strange turn of events, Marvel Rivals hasn't yet been announced for release on consoles, and is currently only slated for PC.
Although NetEase hasn't officially confirmed that Marvel Rivals is coming to any other consoles except for PC right now, that is looking increasingly likely to change following the release of the closed beta test. As pointed out by reliable leaker mmmmmmmmiller and originally reported by GMatrixGames, data has been found within the PC release that confirms other consoles are planned.
GMatrixGames pointed out that a recent update to the Steam version of the game including changes to support Xbox Series alongside PS5, which was seemingly already listed within the game. Miller Ross also confirmed that there's crossplay infrastructure already within the game, which would only be the case if Rivals was planned for platforms other than PC.
Miller Ross believes that a console release for Marvel Rivals could be announced at Summer Game Fest next month, which makes sense if the closed beta test already has data referencing it.
