We don't really know what it means right now, but Saints Row is getting a «huge» combat overhaul in its next update, which is currently scheduled for a May release. This patch was actually announced last week, as developer Volition outlined the game's roadmap through to August.

Although said roadmap did mention a «combat overhaul», it's now clear that this is supposed to be a reasonably big deal. Again, we don't have any details to go on yet, but we do have a teasing tweet that shows some new takedowns (we think?).
It'll be interesting to see just how in-depth this «overhaul» is. «Smoother» action is also mentioned, so maybe certain animations and prompts are being redesigned as well? We'll have to wait and find out.

Despite flopping critically & commercially, it is nice to see them supporting the game for the people who did get it.
