The PC port of The Last of Us was a trainwreck developer Naughty Dog had to know was coming, and it continues to work hard to sure up the cracks, pushing out updates at a rapid clip. The reputational damage done at launch will likely take a lot longer to fix, with the studio admitting the port (which was done in-house) was not up to its usual standards and that Steam Deck players will need to wait in line.
The latest patch weighed in at a hefty 14 GB and purported to improve performance for PC players, amongst myriad other bug fixes and improvements. However, many players still report CPU and memory issues, even on top-of-the-line machines, and the bugs aren't restricted to eyebrows alone.
There are likely many more patches to come, and if nothing else, Naughty Dog and its partners at Iron Galaxy have committed to getting the game into the state it deserves. How long that takes is anyone's guess, but until then, at least we have the memes.
