Activision Blizzard Boss Bobby Kotick Warns Billion Dollar Buyout Saga Ain't Over | Push Square
After a shock upset at the eleventh hour, the UK's CMA has blocked Microsoft's attempted acquisition of Activision Blizzard, stunning pundits and analysts alike as the deal was generally expected to be given the go-ahead. An internal email from Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has been released in response, and the company has already begun the appeal process.
“Today, the Competition and Markets Authority, a regulatory agency in the UK, decided not to approve our merger with Microsoft. This isn’t the news we wanted – but it is far from the final word on this deal,” he states.
He continues, noting that «alongside Microsoft, we can and will contest this decision, and we’ve already begun the work to appeal to the UK Competition Appeals Tribunal» and that «we’re confident in our case because the facts are on our side: this deal is good for competition».
It's quite the turnaround and one we will no doubt be grappling with for months, even years, to come… and just when we thought the war of words might finally be over.

Hopefully, Kotick is wrong and Activision-Blizzard remains free from Microsoft's clutches.
