With the release Baldur's Gate 3 last week, many players have reported seeing an interestingly named weapon similar to legendary WoW weapon and Enhancement Shaman Artifact, Doomhammer. Despite the similar name, the Baldur's Gate item varies significantly from the Doomhammer artifact weapon in WoW.
The additional proc doesn't really align with the weapons identity in WoW. Many have suggested that if the item had some of the lightning charge procs found on many early BG3 items that the tie might be a bit closer or just simply a missed opportunity.
Many have pointed out that because the weapon is 2-handed that it could possibly be a nod to the legendary WoW weapon, but early depictions of the weapon in Warcraft history suggested that Orgrim Doomhammer utilized the weapon as a Two-Handed Mace with a much longer handle. This may all be coincidental as Doom Hammers appear as a common weapon archetype in many RPGs including Diablo 4 via, but we'd still like to believe there may be a small potential nod here.
