Since its launch, Baldur's Gate 3 fans have been asking Larian Studios for an option to change their character's appearance mid-game. After a lot of begging and waiting, one player called Titan asked the director of publishing Michael Douse directly on Twitter, to which he replied, "Things are being cooked".
Changing your appearance mid-game might sound drastic, altering your face and body and all the other minor cosmetic details to create a wholly new person, but you'd also have the option to simply change your hairstyle and make-up. Maybe your character decides to cut their luscious locks down after countless sweaty nights at camp. Or in battle. That works, too.

Douse's answer was fairly vague, so we don't know what changing your appearance will look like in Baldur's Gate 3. It may be something Withers can do like swapping your class, but whether it'll include the option to change species remains to be seen. In Divinity: Original Sin 2, Larian Studios' last game, you can alter how you look at any point on The Lady Vengeance by using the green mirror. This also lets you change how your party looks. While that might not be the case in BG3--only time will tell--perhaps we'll have the option to make changes to our Guardian as we go along, seeing as they too are custom-made.
Right now, there are only very minor ways to tweak you and your party's appearance once you've got stuck in. You can shapeshift or enlarge, even becoming various animals as a druid, but you can't make a whole new person or even get a haircut. Baldur's Gate is in dire need of barbers.
