One of Diablo 4's internal testing branches, fenrisdev, has been updated to Version 2.0, indicating the first deployment of a Diablo 4 expansion! As shown via blizztrack, the exact version name is 2.0.0ta.45667, hinting at the deployment of a Technical Alpha build.

Could this be a first hint toward Diablo 4's first expansion or just more preparation for Season 2?

Just a few weeks ago, Diablo General Manager Rod Fergusson stated that Diablo 4 will get annual expansions, putting the game's first expansion release date somewhere in the first half of 2024 — in theory:
