New Pokémon Card Binder Is Perfect '90s Nostalgia (& Great For Your 151 Collection)

A new binder for the is a perfect nostalgic callback for those who played in the '90s. The series has been relishing in nostalgia recently, particularly with 's set, which launched in September 2023 and featured the original 151 Pokémon from Gen 1's Kanto region.

As shared by Water Pokémon Master on the fansite, Ultra PRO's new “” is clearly a callback to this time, as it resembles the binders that Nintendo released in the ’90s. These binders have padded leatherette covers much like the originals, albeit without Ken Sugimori's artwork of Ash and his Pokémon on the front, which may be due to licensing agreements. Another difference is that they have rubberized text reading "" instead of the printed "", and a Pokéball snap closure instead of the plain buttons of the original, but the inspiration is clearly there, and it serves as a nice callback.

Ultra PRO's binder stores up to 160 cards in Deck Protector sleeves in side-loading pockets with low-friction black backing, with each page housing four cards. This would ensure that players could easily house all 151 Pokémon from the new collection, making it a perfect companion for those who want to go for the full nostalgia of the early days of the franchise. These 4-pocket binders were particularly useful for those who used to take their collections to school to trade with their friends, as they were smaller, and more portable than some of the later 9-pocket ones. Therefore, many long-term collectors will likely have fond memories of them.

There was some concern among the comments that Water Pokémon Master's post was an April Fool's as the binders weren't shown on Ultra PRO's website, and they have a reputation for having done an April Fool's joke most years.
