Pokemon GO is officially bringing back the Bug Out event for 2024. Pokemon GO hosts a wide variety of events throughout any given year. Some of these special Pokemon GO events are one-off affairs, while others are annual events that come back every year. One such recurring event in Pokemon GO is Bug Out, a special event themed after the Bug-type Pokemon that players can catch in the augmented reality mobile game.
Past Pokemon GO Bug Out events have given players the chance to fill out their Pokedex and add missing Bug-types to their roster. The same opportunities will be afforded to players who participate in the 2024 version of the Pokemon GO Bug Out event, which is scheduled to start next week.
As announced by Niantic, Pokemon GO Bug Out 2024 will take place from Friday, April 12 at 10:00am local time and last until Wednesday, April 17 at 8:00pm local time. While the event is live, Pokemon GO players can expect Bug-type Pokemon spawns to increase dramatically, with the chance to add shinies of each creature to their collection. Pokemon GO Raids will also be getting a shake-up during the Bug Out event, giving players even more opportunities to snag some Bug-types.
Notably, Pokemon GO's Mega Raids will feature the debut of Mega Heracross. Replacing Mega Charizard X for the duration of the Bug Out event, Pokemon GO players can try their hand at battling and capturing Mega Heracross. Niantic previously teased Mega Heracross' debut in the game, and so it's exciting to get confirmation that the missing Mega Evolution will finally be available to Pokemon GO players.
Beyond wild spawn and Raid Battle changes, Pokemon GO players can also look forward to special Field Research tasks themed after Bug-type Pokemon, special limited-time Collection Challenges, and new Pokemon GO Avatar items themed after Burmy and Combee.
While Pokemon GO players check out all the new content coming as part of the Bug Out 2024 event, they can take advantage of double XP for catching Pokemon
