Credible Resident Evil leaker AestheticGamer (aka Dusk Golem) recently claimed thatResident Evil 9 was facing internal delays. However, they have since recanted that report. The insider now states that the reveal for Resident Evil 9 should take place «pretty soon,» with a targeted release window of early 2025, with January being Capcom's internal target. AestheticGamer posted a lengthy thread on Twitter reporting the rumor, and also revealed intriguing details about Resident Evil 9's potential 7-year development cycle.
The leaker claimed that Resident Evil 9 started development in early 2018 «as a possible RE8,» and that Resident Evil Village also went into development with the same purpose around that time. Village then transitioned to a spin-off game, before pivoting back to being the eighth entry in the series.
