A second remake of the original Resident Evil is apparently in the works, according to rumors circulating online.
As reported on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit, DanielRPK, who proved to be somewhat reliable in the past, revealed on their Patreon that a new remake of the first entry in the survival-horror series by CAPCOM powered by the RE Engine is now in development.
While DanielRPK did not reveal any additional information on the new Resident Evil remake, @PRE_Atarabiya revealed on X/Twitter that the game will be released in 2026 to celebrate the series' 30th anniversary. Additionally, the user revealed some additional information on the yet-to-be-revealed ninth entry in the series, saying that Leon Kennedy will be the main character in the game's introduction and will be 48 years old, as the game will be set in the Summer of 2025.
While a second remake of the original Resident Evil definitely makes a lot of sense, we have to take its existence with a grain of salt until an official confirmation comes in. We will keep you updated on it as well as on the ninth entry in the series as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
