Just as the 2024 solar eclipse started in North America, a Pokemon fan shared artwork based on the phenomenon, which combined Solrock and Lunatone into a single creature. After sitting on it for some time, the Pokemon fan artist shared their work on social media, and other fans complimented them on their clever design choice.
Collectively known as the Meteorite Pokemon, Solrock and Lunatone first appeared in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire as version exclusives. Solrock was found in Pokemon Ruby, Lunatone was encountered in Pokemon Sapphire, and both appeared in the respective Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remakes. True to their names, Solrock is designed like the sun, and Lunatone is shaped like a crescent moon. While Solrock and Lunatone are Rock and Psychic dual-type Pokemon capable of using various moves, their low HP and defense statistics leave them vulnerable to Water, Dark, and Grass-type attacks, making them far from the strongest Rock-type Pokemon to use in competitive battles.
Despite their unique designs, neither Solrock nor Lunatone are available inPokemon Scarlet and Violet. However, that did not stop one Pokemon fan from combining the Meteorite Pokemon in observance of the 2024 solar eclipse. A Reddit user named Poetically_Imperfect combined Solrock and Lunatone into a new Rock and Psychic Pokemon and shared their work on the r/pokemon subreddit. The artist named their new creation Eclipsite, which has the bodies of both Solrock and Lunatone stuck together in the center. Solrock's sun-shape is retained, but Lunatone covers the left side of its face. In its Shiny version, Eclipsite has an orange and black body, with Lunatone's half being darkened and Solrock's portions taking on a deeper shade of orange.
