Several of the deeper caves that must be eventually explored in are only accessed once players get the Rope Gun, which lets them go across the ziplines in these areas. Unlike other items found easily at Campsites, the Rope Gun lies deep within a cave fraught with dangers. Players are recommended to take some time to gather supplies and survive long enough to be prepared for the journey to find this essential item, as it serves as a turning point during a playthrough.

The path to the Rope Gun leads players to the western edge of the map, between the ocean and snowy mountain range. Caves that send players deep below this section host the item in question, filled with powerful enemies in called Cannibals. Bringing a Gun or Stun Baton helps against these enemies, but the Baby Cannibals that reside in this cavern are challenging even with these weapons. Since the Rope Gun is also a prerequisite item for the Shovel, players should bring plenty of food, Meds, and a Flashlight or Torch to ensure they don't fail to collect their prize.

Once players go toward the spot on their map where the Rope Gun's cave could be, they can see the area blocked off by destructible pieces of wood just southeast of a nearby green point of interest. Squeezing through a crack in the rock face leads into the cave, eventually letting players reach a clearing where a fallen worker may be spotted to their left. In addition to getting some essential items in from this body, players will see a path leading along the wall from the worker deeper into the cave, extending until a blob-like creature can be seen in a small gap.
