Sons of the Forest has enjoyed impressive critical and commercial success since its recent early access launch, but obviously, developer Endnight Games has plenty of content and features planned for the game over the coming weeks and months. While it remains to be seen exactly how long the game will remain in its early access phase, its first major post-launch update is now out, and it adds a number of significant new features.
That includes hang gliders to add more spice to traversal, binoculars for players to equip and survey distant points of interest, defensive wall gates to add more stability to your bases, and the ability to be able to lock doors by placing a stick on their interior- which, given how brutal and harsh the game’s world can be, comes as a bit of a blessing. Meanwhile, the update has also added a new mini-boss, some quality-of-life improvements, and a variety of balancing and bug fixes. You can check out the full patch notes below.
Upon its early access launch last month, Sons of the Forest instantly hit an impressive peak Steam concurrent user count of over 350,000 players, while Endnight Games announced shortly afterward that the game had sold an impressive 2 million copies within just 24 hours of release.
Sons of the Forest is currently available on PC. Read our review of the early access version through here.
