More than a few TV and film adaptations of video games have impressed in recent years, and in that group, few have scaled the sort of heights that HBO’s The Last of Us did last year. So successful was the show’s first season that shortly after its premiere, a second one was officially greenlit, and though reports have previously pegged it for a 2025 premiere, a specific release date has remained elusive.
That much hasn’t yet changed, unfortunately, but it seems like we do have a narrower window, at the very least. As reported by Deadline (via Discussing Film on Twitter), The Last of Us’ second season will premiere sometime in the first half of 2025. That would line up with statements made last year by Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie on the show.
Recently, HBO shared a first look at Joel and Ellie (played by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey respectively) in season 2 of The Last of Us with two new images. The upcoming season will also be introducing several new key characters, including Abby (played by Kaitlyn Dever), Dina (played by Isabel Merced), and Jesse (played by Young Mazino). It’s also been confirmed that season 2 won’t cover the entirety of The Last of Us Part 2.
‘THE LAST OF US’ Season 2 will premiere in the first half of 2025.
