Joy has officially taken over as the box office previews bring the Pixar sequel closer to its projected opening weekend revenue.
Inside Out 2 has scored a significant win not only for Pixar but for the animated genre at large, making it the best-selling 2024 feature so far. It has even managed to beat Dune: Part Two‘s $12 million box office earnings.
Poised to become one of the highest-grossing films of the year, joining Dune: Part Two and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Disney/Pixar’s latest outing has earned a total of $13 million in Thursday previews. This brings the sequel closer to its potential $100 million earnings in the coming weeks.

Inside Out 2’s previews has even surpassed the 2015 original’s $3.7 million box office previews. Moreover, apart from its box office previews, the sequel has also proven to be a critically acclaimed one, with ComingSoon’s Jonathan Sim describing the film as “a heartwarming Pixar sequel.” Inside Out 2 also boasts a current 93% critic score and 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The official synopsis reads: “Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.”
