While not much is yet known about a potential new Gears of War, rumors have swirled about the currently unannounced Gears of War 6. Leaks have hinted that the next Gears of War may see a major shift from past games in the series, suggesting Gears of War 6 may debut as an open-world game taking notes from Gears 5's open environments. Leaks have also teased that Microsoft is aiming for a 2026 release window for the sixth Gears of War, marking a seven-year gap between it and Gears 5. Now, original creator Cliff Bleszinski is interested in helping out with the game.
As reported by VGC, a recent tweet from Cliff Bleszinski shares his official stance on a new Gears of War game, showing interest in being involved with the new release. Bleszinski, also known as CliffyB, says that he is «down to consult» on the game, considering the Gears of War franchise as «an enormous part of his legacy.» He does reveal, however, that neither Microsoft nor The Coalition have contacted the original creator about Gears of War 6. Bleszinski also shares some of his personal projects following the shuttering of game studio Boss Key, working in restaurants, on Broadway, and now creating comics and doing stand-up comedy.
