In behaviour unique to niche gaming communities, dedicated players of the asymmetrical multiplayer Friday the 13th: The Game have put on a sombre display as servers were severed for good. The title was removed from storefronts in August 2023, but apparently, the fine print read that servers would run through New Year's Eve 2024 for players on PC. Some of the game's most hardcore enthusiasts were logged in for its final moments.

user iitempx captured the strange scene. Launched back in 2017, the game has had a fairly rough go of things. Initially selling well, following an unfortunate lawsuit with the director of the original Friday the 13th film, publisher Gun Media found itself unable to create anything new related to the IP, an effective death sentence for the game. Below, peruse some of the scenes that could be witnessed as the cruelly killed game came to a close, and always remember that licensed IP is a double-edged sword.
Lights out

sad when notable games get shut down. this game was a whole vibe back in the day when it was supported. the ps4 era was great
