Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's developer, Naoki Hamaguchi, has confirmed that the game's main story will take around 40 hours to beat, but that trying to complete all the side content will bump it up to more than 100 hours.
As beloved as Final Fantasy 7 Remake was, one of the main complaints that players had about it was that there was a lack of interesting side content to do beyond the main game, which gave very little reason to return after reaching the credits. Rebirth is going in a very different direction, moving away from the linear levels by featuring an open world that aims to build upon what was explorable in the original game.
With such a big scope compared to the last game, a lot of Final Fantasy fans have been wondering how long it's going to take to beat Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, especially with previous claims that it has more than 100 hours of content. Well, thanks to an exclusive preview from Game Informer, we finally have a good idea of how much time the main quest is going to take up.
According to game director Naoki Hamaguchi, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's main story can be finished in around 40 hours if the player is only interested in that content and doesn't stray far from the path. Players who do a little bit of that extra side stuff can expect to have a playthrough that lasts around 60 hours. Finally, if you're going all in on Rebirth, then you're likely to have more than 100 hours of questing to get through.
According to How Long To Beat, Final Fantasy 7 Remake takes most players around 33 hours to beat the main story, with completionists getting up to 86 overall.
