Dragon's Dogma 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are easily two of the most anticipated titles of 2024 — and they'll be here before you know it. Expectations are sky high for both action RPGs given previous efforts, and so to get the hype machine well and truly rolling, Capcom and Square Enix have posted brand new artworks (in vastly different styles).
First off, Dragon's Dogma 2 has been given this amazing piece that shows the titular dragon going up against the Arisen and their allies. Simply gorgeous.
And then, taking on a much less serious tone, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has chibi-fied its main characters and plopped them in some kind of city square. We're big fans of Cloud's emotionless expression as he's pulled two ways by Tifa and Aerith. Some things never change...
Of course, these are just two examples taken from a tidal wave of Happy New Year messages posted by developers on social media — but we reckon they're the cream of the crop (and it helps that both games are looming on the horizon).
That said, here are some honourable mentions, thanks to their lovely art:
Cygames posted this very pretty picture (with Granblue Fantasy: Relink dropping in February).
The official Tales account gave us the Tales of Arise gang sporting traditional Japanese New Year outfits.
And Final Fantasy 16 published some fantastic art featuring the Rosfield brothers and Dion.
