Fallout London isn't coming to the console, despite mods being fully supported on Xbox platforms. This is due to the file size being far too large, with the game currently sitting at around "30 to 40" gigabytes.
This comes directly from project lead Dean Carter, who made these comments while delivering the news that Fallout London is being indefinitely delayed. This is due to Fallout 4's current-gen update coming just two days after the initially planned release date, which would completely break the mod upon launch.
"We aren't able to bring the mod to console platforms," says Carter. "Many of you know that, and if not, surprise, we can't do it."
He continues, suggesting that changes would have to be made on Bethesda's end for this to work.
We'd hoped in vain that the new update would have allowed that, but it's just simply too big. The mod is far too big. It's currently standing at around 30 to 40 gigabytes. It's just not going to fit on the Xbox systems. I'm sorry, that's the truth of it.
It's unsurprising to see that PlayStation has been left out of the conversation entirely, as Sony is notoriously restrictive when it comes to console modding. This limits the kind of fan creations you can get on Fallout 4's PlayStation mod page, and would rule out a Fallout London release completely.
With Xbox, it seems that it's just a size issue, as Fallout London is far larger than most mods. In fact, Carter also confirms that it's too big for Nexus Mods, a site that already hosts thousands of huge creations for Bethesda games. Due to this, it will be launching through GOG, but will also be available to anyone who owns Fallout 4 on Steam and Epic Games Store.
Fallout London is an ambitious fan project, creating an entirely new game within Fallout 4. As the name suggests, it will take place in London, taking the series outside of the United States. It was previously revealed that we'll be playing as a new character, The Wayfarer, and that the map will be roughly
