With the Cataclysm Classic Pre-Patch well underway, many players have noticed the absence of something that was widely anticipated — the Cataclysm Pre-Patch events.
In the original Cataclysm, the Pre-Patch was split into four phases — Phases 1 and 2 set the stage for later, more severe events in Phases 3 and 4. From finding undercover members of the Twilight Cult in capital cities all the way to elemental invasion portals appearing around Azeroth, the Pre-Patch events had something for everyone — take a look!
In the Twilight's Cult portion of the Pre-Patch, players began in Stormwind and Orgrimmar, following a quest chain to discover Doomsayers, NPCs that preached the end being nigh. Passing out flyers such as Elemental Fire for the Soul and What Does 'The End of All Things' Mean for Me?, these NPCs were actually recruiters for the Twilight's Hammer, a cult that worships the Old Gods and wants to bring about the end of the world.
Human and Troll Doomsayers
Through a twisting investigation that had you infiltrate the Cult, attempt to rescue indoctrinated townsfolk, and discover that the leader of the Cult is none other than Cho'gall, players were finally exposed to the next step of the Twilight's Cult plans: planting Elemental Devices around the capital cities in preparation for a full-scale elemental invasion. While you may have served as an early warning, it was clear — the Twilight's Cult infection ran deeper than anyone could have anticipated.
In the second half of the Twilight's Cult event, faction leaders decided that the best course of action would be to take the fight directly to the Twilight's Cult — no more waiting for an attack and finding Doomsayers skulking in back alleys. As elemental rifts open around Azeroth, players raced against time to stop the Cult from a full-scale attack.
