Hades 2 eventually lets you summon animal familiars who can help you in battle, which lets you turn your froggy best friend into a powerful ally in battle.
Although Zagreus and Melinoe are both children of Hades, one of the most interesting things that set the two games apart is how differently the siblings play from one another. Zagreus, as a trained warrior, is fast on his fiery feet and skilled with a variety of weapons, while Melinoe, a witch, focuses more on her suite of magic abilities (although she's no slouch when it comes to close combat, either).
Melinoe's range of magic abilities shine brightly during combat, but they also come into play when she's exploring and expanding the Crossroads, Hades 2's hub world. In order to unlock new mechanics and expand what she can do before venturing out to save her father, Melinoe interacts with a cauldron and performs incantations to unlock new features.
One of the most exciting incantations that the player can unlock in Hades 2 is called "Faith of Familiar Spirits", which can be unlocked rather late in the game. Once you perform this spell, Melinoe is granted Witch's Delight, which can be used to unlock animal familiars. Using Witch's Delight on animals will cause them to turn into familiars that you can then take into battle with you, at the cost of one of your tools.
So far, it seems that there are only two animals that can be turned into familiars in Hades 2. The first is a cat named Toula who can be found in the Rift of Thessaly, a late-game area that you won't travel to for some time. The second is one that's a lot easier to find, as it's Melinoe's froggy best friend, Frinos.
It seems almost undeniable that Cerberus will eventually be turned into a familiar in Hades 2, although he's currently not one in the game's Early Access state.
Frinos can be found where you spawn in at the Crossroads, and feeding him a Witch's Delight will turn him into a familiar. Neither him nor Toula are the most powerful
