ComingSoon is excited to debut the Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot trailer for Angel Studios’ upcoming foster care drama, which arrives in theaters on Independence Day, July 4.
Sound of Hope is directed by Joshua Weigel, who wrote and produced the film with Rebekah Weigel. It tells the true story of Bishop W. C. Martin and Donna Martin, whose church helped inspire a town in Texas to adopt over 70 difficult-to-place children in the foster care system. It stars Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost), Demetrius Grosse (Rampage), Nika King (Euphoria), and Diaana Babnicova (Don’t Breathe 2).

“Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot shares the true story of Bishop (Demetrius Grosse) and First Lady Donna Martin (Nika King), and their tiny Bennett Chapel church, in the town of Possum Trot in the woods of East Texas. Twenty-two families linked arms and courageously adopted seventy-seven of the most difficult-to-place children in the local foster care system, igniting a national movement for vulnerable children that continues today,” says the synopsis.
Sound of Hope is executive produced by Tiffany FitzHenry, Nika King, Joe Knittig, Don Mandrik, and Letitia Wright. The film has a run time of 2 hours and 18 minutes.
Best known for putting out the hit television series The Chosen and the human trafficking film Sound of Freedom, Angel Studios is an independent media company based in Provo, Utah. Its recent releases include Sight, Cabrini, The Shift, and After Death. Up next for the studio are Bonhoeffer, Homestead, and the animated film David.
