Microsoft has confirmed the first wave of games coming to Xbox Game Pass in June 2024. Highlights include today’s surprise shadow drop of Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler series, The Callisto Protocol, and Still Wakes the Deep.
First up are the aforementioned Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler 2. Octopath Traveler (Cloud, Console, and PC) returns to the Game Pass library today, June 6, whereas Octopath Traveler 2 (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) launches on Xbox and Game Pass for the first time having released on other platforms last year, alongside a new update.
IGN's Octopath Traveler review returned a 9.3. We said: "Octopath Traveler's beautiful style and outstanding take on traditional turn-based combat make it a game that pushes JRPGs forward rather than simply paying homage to the greats." IGN's Octopath Traveler 2 review scored a 7: "Octopath Traveler 2 is a very enjoyable JRPG sequel that feels a little too safe and familiar," we said.
Moving on, Depersonalization (PC) hits Game Pass on June 12. It’s a tabletop role-playing game inspired by Call of Cthulhu with rich branching narratives. Then, on June 13, Isonzo (Cloud, Console, and PC) is added to Game Pass. This authentic World War 1 first-person shooter is set on the Italian Front. IGN’s Isonzo review returned a 7/10. We said: “Isonzo is a well-made shooter that welcomes all comers to its gorgeous, mountainous World War I multiplayer battlefields, though a lot of that approachability and familiarity comes at the cost of period authenticity and distinctive gameplay.”
Then, on June 13, The Callisto Protocol (Cloud, Console, and PC) arrives on Game Pass. This Dead Space spiritual successor launched in December 2022, receiving a 7/10 from IGN’s review. We said: “The Callisto Protocol is a satisfyingly gory spiritual successor to the Dead Space series, but it’s ultimately more of a striking modern mimic than a scary new mutation.”
And finally, Still Wakes the Deep (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) rounds out
