The upcoming World of Warcraft expansion is introducing an inventory bag with an attribute bonus, opening up the possibility that future bags will offer different buffs and special effects to player characters when equipped. While World of Warcraft has enjoyed newfound popularity with its Season of Discovery on the Classic servers, the Retail version of the game is at a major crossroads. With Dragonflight coming to a close, the Worldsoul Saga is expected to commence with the launch of The War Within before the end of 2024.
Many evergreen features are expected to arrive in The War Within, the most exciting of which appears to be the Warband system. Warbands will finally unify World of Warcraft characters, regardless of faction or realm, on a player's account, allowing them to enjoy shared progression of features such as new reputations and Renown tracks. It will also have a shared bank for players to easily transfer items across their alts, further supported by the inclusion of numerous Warband-bound items.
One such item appears to be the Arathor Courier's Satchel, a new type of inventory bag that comes with 32 slots, but also a special effect when equipped. Namely, it will increase movement speed by 3% when roaming outdoors in Khaz Algar. Khaz Algar is the new continent introduced in The War Within, and will feature four World of Warcraft zones at launch. The new inventory bag was datamined by Wowhead, and reported by several players across social media.
Curiously, the bag appears to be Unique-Equipped, meaning that World of Warcraft players won't be able to stack its movement speed bonus – at least, not initially. It's quite possible that the Arathor Courier's Satchel is meant to test out the viability of adding similar bags in the future.
