Fallout 4 Mod Manages To Make Lockpicking Far More Immersive, But At Price
may be littered with challenges for those players who enjoy breaking into safes but those who want their locks to be even more secure should check out this simple yet immersive mod. Over the course of the game, the Sole Survivor will happen upon many containers that are safely battened down but with some patience and a massive collection of Bobby Pins, every lock can be cracked. It's certainly fun to twist the pin and find the «sweet spot» but when it comes to realism, the system isn't all that accurate.
Fortunately, that can be fixed thanks to the «Lockpicking Redone» mod by vTemporalZEROv who shared the add-on to Nexus Mods. Put very simply, the mod makes locks significantly harder to pick but also tweaks the mechanic to be more realistic by giving players just a single Bobby Pin that doesn't snap in two if the correct angle isn't located. According to the creator, in real life "" so it seemed unrealistic to have them shatter by applying a relatively small amount of pressure in the incorrect location.
With 37 settlements to unlock and build in Fallout 4 knowing where to put in effort can be hard, and some locations are definitely better than others.
To compensate for the lack of breakable Bobby Pins, vTemporalZEROv explains that, much like in reality,locks are significantly more challenging to crack. While the default «sweet spot» variable on an «Easy» lock is 80, the add-on reduces that to 12.5, making precision and patience a necessity. To make matters even more complicated, «Very Hard» locks, which usually have a variable of 20, now have a variable of 5, making them next to impossible to pick without some serious dedication and a deft hand.
The «Lockpicking Redone» mod does at least include the ability to craft an «Uber Pin» which can make some of the tougher locks more manageable. The add-on also makes some adjustments to the amount of XP rewarded for a successful lockpick, which should serve as an early incentive to practice early and hunt down copies of
